A teenage boy has been told he faces a life sentence, after admitting murdering 17 year old Charlie Cosser north of Warnham early last Sunday morning (July 23).
Charlie, from Milford in Surrey, sustained multiple stab wounds during an incident in Marches Road.
He was taken to hospital, where he lost his life on Tuesday 25 July.
Charlie's family later paid tribute to their son, saying:
"Our lives have been destroyed by the tragic and unnecessary loss of our son.
"He was the most caring, cheeky, loving son and brother we could have ever wished for, and we cannot imagine a life without him."
The 16 year old boy who pled guilty to Charlie's murder yesterday (July 28), during his first appearance before Lewes Crown Court, cannot be named for legal reasons.
He also admitted possessing a bladed article.
Kevin Light, defending, told the court the teenager was of previous good character and had "drunk a considerable amount", and was unable to remember some events of the evening such as how he came about the knife.
Judge Christine Laing KC told the defendant:
"There is only one sentence which is life imprisonment, but I have to determine what the appropriate minimum term you must serve is, before you are considered eligible for parole and to be released.
"I also need to see more information about the case before I decide that."
The defendant is due to be sentenced on September 11.
