£45k In Cash, Weapons, Drugs Seized And Three Arrested In East Grinstead

Police have arrested three men in East Grinstead after stopping a suspicious car and finding a balaclava, cash and weapons, among other items, stashed in the car.

Officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit spotted the Audi A3 in Queens Road, shortly before 9pm on Monday (January 10).

The car stopped to pick up a passenger, then police stopped the car for not being insured.

When officers searched the car they found cannabis, £1,500 in cash, weapons and a balaclava in the glovebox.

The 22-year-old driver failed a DrugWipe test; a 21-year-old passenger was holding cannabis and a third 20-year-old was found with nothing and not arrested.

Officers then searched the homes of the men, with a large amount of cash and cocaine at one of the properties.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons in public, driving while under the influence of a specified drug, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis.

He was also arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of a class A drug.

A 21-year-old woman at the address in East Grinstead was also arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of a class A drug.

Meanwhile officers also searched the address of a 21-year-old man, where they found weapons which were all seized.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, possessing cannabis, possessing an offensive weapon in a private place, possessing criminal property, and being involved in the supply of a class A drug.

Approximately £45,000 in cash was seized from the searches at both addresses and the vehicles.

The three suspects who were arrested have been released on bail until February 8 while the investigation continues.
