A259 closed for 'urgent' gas network repairs

Gas distribution company SGN have closed a section of the A259 near Worthing for 'urgent' repairs on the gas network. Delays are expected on the road travelling westbound on Littlehampton Road, Ferring. There has been no confirmation of a gas leak, but SGN has claimed "immediate work" has become necessary. The section that's closed is near the roundabout junction with Titnore Lane. Diversions are in place, while the road is expected to be reopened this evening. A spokesperson for SGN said: "We're carrying out urgent repairs to our gas network in the A259 Littlehampton Road in Ferring. "To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ve temporarily closed a section of the road near its roundabout junction with Titnore Lane. "A signed diversion is in place for motorists. "All being well, we hope to complete our repair and reopen the road this evening."   More Radio is continuously dedicated to providing a quality news service on-air and online, reporting local stories that matter across Sussex.
