It's said that full collision investigation work is currently underway, and once complete, the recovery and clear-up operation will be undertaken.

Highways England said:

"Road users wishing to continue their journey westbound are advised to follow the hollow triangle diamond diversion symbol and exit the A27 just after Chichester at the Fishbourne Roundabout and join the A259 westbound towards towards Emsworth via Nutbourne.

"Continue on the A259 westbound to then rejoin the A27 at the Emsworth Intersection.

"Road users wishing to continue their journey eastbound are advised to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol and the above route, but in reverse."
