Actor Martin Clunes Helps Bluebell Railway Get 'Back To Steam'

It's set to be a case of new meets old at the Bluebell Railway, as heritage is set to come up against social distancing when it reopens on August 7th.

Due to open to the public on 7 August 2020 - its 60th birthday - the railway has produced a reopening film featuring TV actor and presenter Martin Clunes.

The short film focuses on the new Covid-19 safety measures in place and shows how a day at Bluebell Railway might look.  It shows that a visit to the railway is safe and enjoyable.

Ruth Rowatt, Bluebell Railway Marketing Manager, said:

"We wanted to create something similar to the British Transport Films of the 1950s

"Something fun, but reassuring. We were so thrilled when Martin Clunes said he would help.  He is a great actor and he brought just the right tone and style - seriously amusing! We can't thank him enough."

By putting new measures in place and ensuring they have thought through how best to look after their visitors and staff, Bluebell Railway has also been awarded the Visit England accreditation - We're Good To Go.

60 years on from opening the first heritage steam railway of its kind in the UK, Bluebell Railway have created a brand new pre-booked service for brand new times.

The new named trains pay homage to its long history of running preserved steam and is a nod to the early days of the 'pioneer line', as it was once known.

Bluebell Railway, like many heritage railways, is only able to reopen due to the donations made to its emergency fund.

However, now it needs the support of the visitor to survive and continue steaming through the next 60 years!

Tickets are pre-booked only. For more information about their services and to book visit: www.bluebell-railway.com.
