Police said this morning, June 18, they are continuing to investigate after two people allegedly stole cash from Carats Café in Southwick on Saturday 12 June.

Officers added the same two individuals were also involved when police released two dogs reported as locked in a car in Brighton.

Witnesses saw police intervene to gain entry to the car by force, after a welfare call came in about the animals in a vehicle in Madeira Drive.

In relation to the suspected theft, a man and a woman have been interviewed and remained under investigation today whilst enquiries continued.

Superintendent Rachel Swinney said:

“We are aware of the significant interest in this case, and I’d like to thank the public for coming forward with information.

“We are actively pursuing all lines of enquiry, and we will seek to identify if any further offences have been committed as our investigation continues.”
