Angering Woman Injured After Finding Burglar In Kitchen

An investigation has started to find the identity of a burglar who was caught in the kitchen of his victim's property going through her handbags.

It happened at about 10am on Monday, December 19. The victim entered the kitchen of her property in Wilkinson Close, to find a man going through her handbags.

She lost consciousness, later waking to find the rings she had been wearing were missing and the man had left the house.

Police have not yet been able to ascertain whether she was assaulted by the man or lost consciousness due to shock.

She was found to have suffered minor injuries to her head and body on waking.

Police are asking local pawnbrokers to be on the lookout for the stolen rings.

They're described as all silver, one of them featuring daisies around it. The next has a purple stone in the centre, with silver beads surrounding it. The third ring features two hearts intertwined and the fourth features a bow. They are very sentimental to the victim.

Enquiries are continuing, and officers are eager to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the burglary and may have seen a man making off from the area.

House to house enquiries have been completed but local residents are urged to come forward with any relevant CCTV or video doorbell footage from around the time of the burglary.

Footage or information can be reported to Sussex Police online, or by calling 101, quoting serial 294 of 19/12.

Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org, or by calling 0800 555 111.
