Police have now traced the pedestrian who was nearly hit by a car which mounted the pavement in New Road, Worthing, during a pursuit.
A Volkswagon Golf was reported stolen at around 12.50pm yesterday (Feb 3rd), from outside a house in Withdean Road, Brighton.
It was traced to Worthing where Police pursued it until it hit a lamp post and a vehicle in Romany Road, Durrington and driver abandoned it and ran off.
During the pursuit, the driver almost struck a man walking on the pavement in New Road, Worthing, before driving off at speed.
He was arrested at 1.45pm, on suspicion of theft of the car.
The man, aged 20, was taken to custody and further arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision. He currently remains in custody.
