Armed Police Arrest Man Over Threats To Kill In Newhaven

Armed police arrested a man in Newhaven yesterday (Thursday 25) on suspicion of making threats to kill.

Police said the 44-year-old suspect was located in the town shortly before 4pm.

He was detained in connection with reports of threats being made to a woman, by a man known to her, and damage caused to property in Telscombe Cliffs, at around 11.28am.

The man had left after an argument and nquiries led officers to the Saltdean area where searches were carried out.

The suspect remained in custody for questioning on Thursday night.

The victim is being supported by officers.
