Arrest After Key Worker Attacked In Brighton

An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was robbed in Brighton on Sunday (February 7).

Police said the 28-year-old was approached by a man asking for a cigarette in Queens Road, at around 6.40am.

He then grabbed the victim's phone, headphones and tobacco before pushing her to the floor.

According to officers, the key worker managed to get her phone and headphones back before he made off.

Information is also being sought in connection with a potentially linked incident of a man possibly being robbed in Jubilee Street, at around 7am that same morning.

An 18-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Investigator Rose Horan said:

“This was a cowardly act. The victim was approached while she was alone and walking to work in her role as a key worker. She feels shocked and shaken by this experience.

"Officers are also seeking information about a further victim of a potentially linked incident, as we have received a report of a man possibly being robbed in Jubilee Street around 7am that same morning.

"We urge anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has any information that may assist with enquiries to come forwards."
