Arrest made following robbery at betting shop in Rustington

Police have made an arrest following a robbery at a betting shop in Rustington, in which cash was stolen and a female staff member was attacked. Officers said two men entered Coral in Sterling Parade yesterday (Tuesday, 17) around 6.15pm, and threatened and assaulted the woman before taking a small sum off cash. People nearby tried to stop the suspects as they then fled on bicycles, according to the force. One man then rode off while the other was forced to abandon his bike and run. Police said a 44-year-old man from Lancing was detained shortly afterwards on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody at this time. An outstanding suspect was described as a white man, wearing a hooded dark blue jacket, blue jeans and white trainers. Police said the injured woman was taken to hospital for checks. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference number 1088 of 17/12.   More Radio is continuously dedicated to providing a quality news service on-air and online, reporting local stories that matter across Sussex.
