Police arrested two men in St Leonards on Sunday (May 2) in a tree-lined residential street, on suspicion of a string of theft and driving offences.
The pair were detained after officers acting on a tip-off stopped a vehicle in Old Harrow Road shortly before 1pm.
According to police, stolen alcohol and a metal bar with a spike on the end were discovered and seized as a vehicle search was carried out.
A 50-year-old man from St Leonards was arrested on suspicion of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, driving without a valid test certificate, going equipped for theft, theft from shop and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
A 30-year-old man from St Leonards was arrested on suspicion of theft from a shop and going equipped for theft.
They were still being held in custody yesterday evening.
