Arsenal Vs Brighton Preview: Capital Gains Unlikely For Goal-Shy Seagulls

Brighton and Hove Albion will head to London this weekend hoping to end the slide which has left their European ambitions in tatters.

The club's torrid second half of the season continued last week, with a dismal goalless stalemate against doomed Norwich City at the Amex — Neal Maupay's missed penalty proving costly.

This Saturday afternoon will see them go head-to-head with a Gunners side who themselves suffered a humbling afternoon when Crystal Palace brushed them aside 3-0.

Arsenal possess one of the league's best home records this season, having won 10, drawn two and lost three at The Emirates to collect 32 points on their own patch.

Brighton's away form was among the best in the top-flight until recent weeks, but has dropped towards the middle of the pack, although the side remain at their most dangerous away from the Amex.

Form Guide

Well, it's official... Albion are now rock bottom of the Premier League form table🤦and have scored just one goal in the past half dozen encounters.

Thankfully for Graham Potter's side, the dismal sequence has occurred with enough points on the board not to get dragged into the bottom three barring an absolute catastrophe.

Arsenal were irresistible until the Palace debacle, and will hope to hold onto their current top four slot.

Until that unexpected humping a Champions League finish had seemed assured.

The teams have met 24 times in the past, with Arsenal enjoying 14 wins, Brighton five, and five encounters ending all square.

Injury news

Arsenal's Kieran Tierney is set to undergo knee surgery, meaning he will miss the remainder of the campaign — hardly ideal with Takehiro Tomiyasu also ruled out.

Thomas Partey is also likely to miss out with a thigh problem, although there is better news on Nicolas Pepe who is likely to return from illness.

Brighton's Jakub Moder ruptured his ACL against Norwich and will join Adam Webster on the sidelines although Moises Caicedo is available again.

Possible line-ups

Brighton (4-3-2-1):

Prediction: Arsenal 2 - 0 Brighton and Hove Albion

Arsenal's home form has been excellent over the course of this campaign and they'll be keen to bounce back in their battle for a top-four finish.

Brighton have all the potency of a soggy fish finger, which doesn't bode well for such a challenging trip.
