Arun District Council pay tribute to 'kind and gentle' man after losing seven-week Covid-19 battle

Tributes have been paid to member of staff at Arun District Council who died after testing positive for Covid-19. The authority said Dave Thompson, from Rustington, who worked with the authorities Revenues and Benefits team for almost 23 years, lost his life on Tuesday (May, 12) after a seven-week battle with coronavirus. Officials said: "He was a highly valued and respected member of staff, but more importantly was a friend to so many. "Dave was a kind and gentle man. "He had a huge love for life, he accepted everyone he met for who they were and always had a smile to share. "Dave passed away after a seven-week battle with the virus. "His wife and son were by his side. "He will leave a huge hole in so many lives, such was the positive impact he had on all who had the honour to know him. "We are flying the flag at the civic centre at half mast to honour Dave's memory. "Our love and sincere condolences go to Dave's loved ones at this time."
