Arun Residents Offered Free Health Check In Town Centre

Every person in Arun is being offered a free wellbeing check at three convenient town centre locations.

The Health on the High Street initiative involves the Arun Wellbeing Team, which is offering not only practical health checks but advice regarding diet and exercise to help prevent such life-changing diseases as diabetes and preventable cancers.

Business are also being encouraged to allow staff to book appointments during their working day.
 
The Arun Wellbeing Team will be offering:

  • Wellbeing MOTs (general lifestyle assessments, including BMI measurement)
  • Blood pressure and cholesterol checks
  • Alcohol intake assessments
  • Stop smoking assessments

Sessions are being held on:

  • January 13 at The Track office space, Bognor Regis Railway Station  10am - 6pm
  • February 3 at The Norfolk Arms hotel, Arundel. 11am – 7pm
  • February 17 at Creative Heart, Littlehampton. 10am – 5pm  

Visit www.arun.westsussexwellbeing.org.uk and use the Self-Referral form to be registered on the Wellbeing system.  

Choose a Health on the High Street date and time that is convenient to you.  An adviser will then contact you by phone to confirm your appointment date and time.

Sarah Day, the Workplace Wellbeing Coordinator for the service, said:

“These free health checks don’t take very long but could be life-changing for some people.

“We are holding the checks in central locations to make it as easy as possible for people to attend.

“It doesn’t matter where in Arun you work, whether it’s for a large company or small, whether you’re full-time, part-time or only work a couple of hours a week. This is all part of our drive to make our workplaces as healthy as possible in 2022.”

Arun Wellbeing is a free, friendly and impartial service run by Arun District Council in partnership with West Sussex County Council. There are similar services in all the district and borough areas across West Sussex and you can visit the service nearest to where you live or work.

As well as this service for employees, the Arun Wellbeing Team also works directly with businesses. The team is on hand to provide free advice and guidance to employers so they can support their enable staff to make small, realistic changes to improve their health and wellbeing. 

The Workplace Wellbeing Team offer:

  • Free and confidential one-to-one face to face, telephone or virtual appointments
  • Topical health and wellbeing talks and workshops covering various health behaviour themes, including healthy weight and diet, alcohol consumption, smoking and physical activity.
  • Support to workplaces with a range of workplace specific themes than can impact upon employee health and wellbeing, including stress and resilience, sleep, menopause, working from home, and mental health and wellbeing.
