Protestors against the Arundel Bypass 'grey route' will stand alongside villagers, parents and children from Walberton and Binsted Primary School on Monday.
The 'silent protest' will be held at Walberton Village Hall where the final National Highways' consultation event is due to take place on Monday, February 21.
Supporters from the Say No to Grey campaign will will also attend with banners and posters made by the people of Walberton to illustrate the 'strength of feeling and concern' about the plan.
Campaigners say Walberton is one of four villages that will be severely affected by the bypass, which they report will pass 160m from the school on the north side 'forcing an increase in traffic by 42% along The Street on the south side - with 300 under 12s trapped in between'.
They're concerned that 1300 additional vehicles will try to navigate the narrow main street in the village, passing the two entrances to the school and play centres.
They also say that the road is already dangerous as vehicles are often seen mounting the pavement in order to let others pass along the 'often single-track' road.
As well as concern about the cost of the work, which they say is currently at around half a billion, campaigners say it will create a real danger to children, the destruction to wildlife habitats and green spaces and an increase in air pollution as 'traffic stacks up at the new pinch point at Fontwell'.
Sally Ward from Walberton Friends and Neighbours said:
"I've spoken with Walberton Pre-School and Nursery and we share a deep anxiety that this ill-thought out plan will result in inevitable injuries or deaths to children trying to get in and out of their education/play centres. We also fear that National Highways are not listening to our very real concerns. We want to express our strong opposition to National Highways’ plans".
