A dark comedy is coming to Brighton Fringe, inspired by real-life lies.
“Sex, Lies & Improvisation” is a play about why we lie to the people we love, and it’s completely improvised. The two performers start each show by getting the audience to choose a lie to inspire them.
“We wanted to work with real lies because truth is stranger than fiction,” says actress Rachel E. Thorn. “So we asked people online to tell us anonymously any lies they’ve told a partner. At the start of each show the audience picks one. It could be anything!”
Once the lie is chosen, the pair creates a witty play about how that lie affects a couple’s relationship.
The show is described as a cross between "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and “Sex, Lies & Videotape”, and has garnered fans across the UK. Thorn and fellow performer Alex Keen were awarded Act of The Year 2019 by The Phoenix Remix.
“Sex, Lies & Improvisation” is at Rialto Theatre as part of Brighton Fringe on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 May. Tickets are available to purchase online.
