Paul Topham from BikeShare operator Hourbike said:

“The competition was such a success last year we just had to bring it back for 2021.”

“It’s been another busy year for BTN BikeShare. We’ve added some new hubs and a fully electric distribution vehicle to move bikes around the city and the number of journeys being made continues to grow.

“The Candy Cane Bike has been serviced and is ready for action. We’ll be giving away some hints as to its location for the next 6 weeks so keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Chair of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee Amy Heley said:

“I’m so glad the Candy Cane Bike Competition is back for another year. It was a real bright spot last Christmas after such a tough year.

“BTN BikeShare continues to go from strength to strength and I’m excited about the future of the scheme, it’s expansion and moves to switch 50% of the fleet to electric bikes.

“The scheme is a great success for the city and a vital part of our public transport network and efforts to be carbon neutral by 2030.”
