Big Match Preview: London Calling For Friday Night Battle Of B-Teams

Brighton and Hove Albion will look to return to winning ways as they visit the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford this evening (Friday).

Last week saw the soaring Seagulls suffer a 1-0 home reverse at the hands of title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite the result, Albion remain in a lofty 7th position in the Premier League table after a dynamic start to the campaign.

Opponents Brentford suffered a 5-1 thumping against in-form Newcastle United, although they too will be content with a mid-table berth after nine matches.

Historically, the teams have met on 76 occasions, Brighton have won 34 times and Brentford 28, while 14 games have ended in draws.

Last season saw Albion take six points from The Bees with victories both home and away.

Injury and suspension news

Brentford trio Pontius Jansson (hamstring), Keane Lewis-Porter (ankle) and Christian Norgaard (Achilles) are all expected to miss out with injury.

Brighton have been rocked by the sudden retirement of midfielder Enock Mwepu at the age of just 24 (read more here).

They will also be missing long-term absentee Jakub Moder (knee).

Possible line-ups

Brentford (3-5-2):

Brighton (3-4-3):

Prediction: Brentford 1 - 1 Brighton

Both teams will be licking their wounds after last weekend's respective defeats, which may see them begin the contest a little tentatively.

Expect red-hot Trossard to prosper against the leaden footed Bees backline, but a lack of cutting edge may come back to haunt the visitors.
