A fire in the waste compartment of a bin lorry has been extinguished by firefighters in Worthing this morning (Wednesday).
Two appliances from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service went to Castle Road this morning after smoke was seen to be issuing from the refuse lorry.
Firefighters quickly worked to empty the waste compartment along the road allowing them to douse the smouldering rubbish.
High pressure hose reels and breathing apparatus were used, with the crew standing down at about 9:30am.
Work has since been completed to clear up the debris from the carriageway.
