Blood-Covered Machete Found In Worthing: Police Make Arrest

An investigation is underway this afternoon (July 20) in Worthing after a machete covered in blood was found in Elizabeth Road.

Police were called around 2.45pm after a member of the public found the blade.

There were also reports of a fight at the same time.

One person has been arrested nearby on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, and also with possession of a knife or a bladed article in a public place.

The detained person remained in custody by late afternoon.

Officers were trying to find anyone who was injured in the incident.

Police said they wanted to check on the welfare of anyone who had been hurt, and to further investigate the incident.

Anyone who saw the altercation, or who has any information about what happened, was asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 774 of 20/07.
