Police have reported that a body has been found in the search for kayaker Shane Davies, who went missing after getting into difficulty in the water, in the Pagham and Selsey beach area.
The 33-year-old went missing at about 3.30pm on Saturday (June 12) after becoming separated from his friend as they swam to shore.
An extensive search of a wide area took place, involving many members of H.M. Coastguard, volunteer lifeboat teams from the RNLI, and police officers.
But this morning (June 13), shortly before 11am, police told the media that a body was found in the water — and it was believed to be that of Mr. Davies.
Next of kin have been informed and the matter has been passed to the Coroner's Office.
Inspector Oliver Pullen said:
"Our thoughts are with Shane's family at this incredibly difficult time.
"I'd like to thank Coastguard and other colleagues for their work to help find Shane."
