Bognor man accused of murdering Ruth Brown to appear in court

A man is due in court today (Tuesday, 14) to face charges in connection with the death of a woman in Bognor over Easter weekend. Officers named the victim as 52-year-old Ruth Brown of Collyer Avenue, Bognor Regis. Police said it's after a concerned caller discovered Ruth's body at her home just before 4pm on Saturday (April, 11). On Sunday, Wayne Morris, 37, a refuse worker of Larch Close, Bognor Regis, was arrested on suspicion of murder on the Isle of Wight; he was charged the following day. Morris is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court today. Officers said Ruth's family asked for their privacy to be respected, but issued a statement: "Mum - Ruth - was a wonderful, loving woman and her loss, under such dreadful circumstances, leaves a gap in our lives that will never be filled. "She was a mother, a daughter, a sister, well known, loved and respected by us and her circle of friends in Bognor and beyond. We ask that we be permitted to grieve in privacy and that justice for mum be allowed to take place in the proper way."
