Bombs Could Be Unearthed On Sussex Beaches In Storm Aftermath

Selsey Coastguard's message

Recent storms are likely to be uncovering explosive dangers along the shores of Sussex.

That's according to coastguards who say live wartime bombs are among objects that could have been revealed lately on our beaches.

Their message is to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard if you find something unusual or dangerous near the sea.

According to the Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team:

"After this latest spell of rough weather look out for unusual objects washed up on beaches.

"HM Coastguard has responsibility to respond to many different incidents, this includes investigating potential harmful objects washed up on our coastlines.

"This could be objects with the potential to cause pollution, Royal Fish (dolphins, whales & porpoises) both alive or deceased, and suspected ordnance.

"Ordnance can come in any shape or size and can still contain live explosives."
