The discovery of bones near West Wittering prompted a call to police on Sunday (January 24).
Officers were called to a nearby beach at 5pm, where specialist forensic teams recovered the bones, which have now been confirmed to be human.
The discovery is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries to identify the bones are ongoing.
