Brighton GP surgery closed over link to coronavirus case

A GP surgery in Brighton has been closed after it was linked to one of the four coronavirus cases confirmed today, Sky News understands.

Earlier on Monday, four British people tested positive for the virus, having been in contact in France with a UK businessman who contracted the virus in Singapore before flying to the French Alps.

He was confirmed as having the virus in Brighton.

Eleven other Britons, including the four confirmed on Monday, contracted it from the man - thought to be a superspreader - during their ski trip in Les Contamines-Montjoie near Mont Blanc.

The door of the County Oak Medical Centre in Carden Hill had a sign saying it is closed due to operational difficulties.

An message on the practice's phone says: Unfortunately the building has had to close due to an urgent operational health and safety reason.

For non-urgent medical advice, please call NHS 111, or if you feel you need urgent medical advice, please call 999.

Coronavirus has so far killed 908 people in China, where it originates, and two outside the country.
