Brighton Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Stabbing And Hospital Lockdown

A 30-year-old man from Brighton has been charged with attemped murder after a stabbing at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on Sunday (19).

As previosly reported, the hospital was locked down after a report that a member of staff had sustained a stab wound, at around 8.42am.

A 56-year-old man, who is a member of staff, was treated for severe stab wounds and discharged from hospital on Sunday evening.

Police said Connolly Mellon, unemployed, of Wilson Avenue, has been charged and will appear in custody at Brighton Magistrates' Court today (Monday).
