Brighton Secondary School Confirms Coronavirus Cases

A secondary school in Brighton has confirmed that two of its pupils have tested positive for COVID-19.

Varndean School announced the news this week and now has 90 of its pupils self isolating at home.

A Varndean School spokesperson said:

"Two separate cases of coronavirus have been confirmed at Varndean School this week.

"The school has worked closely with the Department for Education and Public Health England to determine the right course of action to reduce the spread of the virus and keep the community safe.

"As a result, 90 students have been asked to self-isolate and will be continuing their learning from home.

"The school has written to all parents explaining the steps they need to take and sharing the advice from the public health team."

Pupils that have not been told to self-isolate are still able to attend school as normal.
