Brighton Station Car Park To Host Drive-In Cinema Screenings

Govia Thameslink Railway have partnered with ODEON to bring a pop-up drive-in cinema experience to Brighton station car park next Monday (20).

Thameslink said it's part of a week-long pilot, which could be rolled out to more stations if proven successful.

The first screening will be Monday (20), showing the film Joker.

Over next weekend (25-26) there will be four shows a day including The Goonies, Shazam! and The Lego Movie 2.

Pictures will be screened on one of the highest quality giant backlit LED displays in the UK, and sound will be piped aboard moviegoers’ cars through their car stereo or a bespoke Bluetooth speaker.

Tickets are on sale via Eventbrite at £35 for a car of up to seven but they are limited, only 125 cars are allocated per screening at each station, in accordance with social distancing measures.

Southern Managing Director Angie Doll said:

"This exciting partnership with a major cinema brand will keep families together in their cars and bring a truly special experience for film fans, helping our communities make the most out of the summer season as we come out of lockdown.

"Even in normal times, station commuter car parks are quiet in the evenings and at the weekend and we’ve worked carefully with ODEON to curate a worthy cinema experience for any film fan keen to try out a whole new cinematic experience.”

Sian Jenkins, Head of Sales at ODEON Events commented:

"We are delighted to join forces with the team at Govia Thameslink Railway and Southern to bring a drive-in experience to a location that many are familiar with as part of their usual commute.

"We can’t wait to welcome our first guests, and immerse them into the world of film at such special locations.”
