Brighton won't have to wait long to avenge their defeat at Manchester United, with the side returning to Amex soil for a match against bottom side Burnley this afternoon (Saturday).

The Seagulls remain ninth in the table and the Manchester United reverse was their first league defeat since December.

Sean Dyche's men prop up the table on 14 points, with their sole victory in 21 attempts coming against Brentford in October.

The game kicks off at the Amex at 3pm this afternoon.

The Premier League table reflects a decent season so far for Graham Potter's team:

Both teams have become staples of the top-flight and there are different reasons why the match will be a pivotal for each.

Despite having games in hand on all of their rivals, Burnley are in danger of being cut adrift from safety if they can't arrest a winless run that now stretches to a dozen matches in all competitions.

Form guide

Sean Dyche's side gave a very good account of themselves against Liverpool at the weekend and, but for some profligacy in front of goal, would have gained at least a point.

Aside from the Manchester United defeat, Brighton have been impressive in recent weeks, although the vast number of draws is undermining a potential push for European places, and recent form is a reflection of their overall season to date.

Brighton have enjoyed matches against The Clarets in recent years, having remained undefeated in the past five meetings.

That said, the matches are always tight affairs, and three of those five games have ended in stalemates, with the others producing single goal away wins for The Seagulls.

Injuries and suspensions

Brighton captain Lewis Dunk will serve a one match ban for his Old Trafford indiscretion, while Jeremy Sarmiento and Enock Mwepu remain unavailable through injury.

Burnley will be without Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson, while full-back Charlie Taylor is also expected to miss out again.

There is better news for the visitors regarding January signing Wout Weghorst, with the giant striker expected to be available after limping off against Liverpool last weekend.

Predicted line-ups

Brighton (3-4-2-1)

Burnley (4-4-2)

Prediction: Brighton 0 - 0 Burnley

Both sides are difficult nuts to crack — Brighton winning just three of 11 at home, while Burnley have failed to take three points on their travels.
