Brighton Vs Tottenham Preview: Pressure On Potter To End Dismal Run

Brighton and Hove Albion will this evening look to arrest a losing streak which has brought the first inkling of dissension towards manager Graham Potter.

A fifth consecutive reverse was recorded last Saturday, when Liverpool left the south coast with all three points following a 2-0 victory at the Amex.

Tottenham are looking to bounce back from a 3-2 defeat against Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Manchester United which left their top-four credentials in serious jeopardy.

It also continued a remarkable sequence of results for Spurs, who have now alternated losses and wins for seven matches in a row.

Worryingly for Brighton, England captain Harry Kane has returned to top form after stuttering in the first half of the season, finding the net six times in his previous five appearances.

This has seen him climb to sixth on the all-time list with 176 Premier League goals, just one behind Frank Lampard and 84 away from Alan Shearer's record of 260.

Albion have won three of 14 home games in the league, scoring just 10 goals in the process, with their last win on home soil coming against Brentford on Boxing Day.

Form guide

Brighton have finally dropped into the bottom three of the form table, with only struggling Leeds and doomed Norwich below them.

Tottenham's inconsistency continues to leave them in need of a surge to secure an unlikely top-four finish, although the lack of draws at least means they're maintaining hope of climbing a few places before the season concludes.

Injury news

The Seagulls are waiting on a scan for Adam Lallana after the midfielder limped out of the defeat to Liverpool, while Adam Webster remains unavailable.

Enock Mwepu and Tudor Baluta have returned to training, but are likely to be given until after the upcoming international break before starting games.

Spurs trio Oliver Skipp (groin), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) and Japhet Tanganga (knee) will all be unavailable for the match.

Possible lineups

Tottenham (3-4-2-1):

Prediction: Brighton 1 - 2 Tottenham

Things are likely to get worse for Potter's troops before they get better - with their awful home form making them a sitting... Seagull in recent weeks.

A further troubling omen is Spurs being due a win to continue their bizarre sequence of form.

Expect Albion to loosen the reins a little from recent matches, which should make for an enjoyable game, although the prospect of an in-form Kane and Son facing a creaking BHA backline doesn't bode well.
