Disco Pete, often described as Brighton's oldest raver, has died at the age of 84.

His daughter broke the news to his 13,000 Facebook followers on Sunday (February 14).

She said her father died in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday morning, also her birthday.

Tributes have been pouring in across social media for the Brighton-based legend who was often spotted at parties in Sussex across the decades.

Pete was known for his colourful clothes, white gloves and signature dance moves.

He would often turn up to events and stay for the duration of the night, without a drop of alcohol.

People have reminisced over his 'wonderful spirit and vibrant soul', his fundraising, and his dancing.

As of Monday (February 15), more than 12,000 condolence messages had been left for the local legend.

His daughter wrote:

"Sadly my dad Disco Pete passed away in his sleep in the early hours of Saturday morning, my birthday. I was hoping he would hold out so we could spend time together for my last birthday with him, but sadly he couldn't make it..

"He was a great dad and I am sure going to miss him. We had many great times together over the years, leaving us with many fond memories.

"R.I. P old fella and may you continue to dance amongst the stars xx."
