"Britain Is Next": Anti-Abortion Campaigners To Protest At Brighton Clinic

Texan organisation 40 Days for Life have scheduled a 40-day protest outside an abortion clinic in Preston Park.

The protest is due to start on September 28 and run until November 6, and organisers are asking people to sign the 'statement of peace' on their website and commit to 'vigil hours' on a schedule.

It'll be held at the MSI Reproductive Choices Clinic at 175 Preston Road in Brighton as well as two other locations in the UK - Leeds and Edinburgh.

The Christian organisation, whose tag line is 'The beginning of the end of abortion' aims to 'end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach and a peaceful all-day vigil outside abortion businesses'.

However, campaigners have typically sat outside clinics, discouraging women to enter, often using harassment and intimidation tactics, as seen in footage broadcast over national media taken from outside US clinics.

The 40 Days for Life website states:

"Christ told us some demons can only be driven out by prayer and fasting. The two go hand in hand.

"We believe that when God's people fast with a broken, repentant, and contrite spirit, our heavenly Father will hear from heaven and heal our lives, our churches, our communities, our nation, and our world."

Following the announcement of a vigil planned for Edinburgh, Nicola Sturgeon has committed to putting 150m 'buffer zones' around Scottish clinics to ensure the safety of women visiting.

Campaigners against the movement are now pushing for buffer zones across the nation.

Caroline Lucas MP for Brighton Pavillion has been contacted for comment as has the Brighton vigil leader for 40 Days for Life, Sheridan Lynch.
