BT plans to install two ‘street hubs’ in Crawley town centre, offering services such as free charging points and a 999 button.
Applications to install the hubs outside Paddy Power, in The Broadway, and TK Maxx, in Queensway, have been submitted to Crawley Borough Council.
The hubs will replace outdated equipment currently on the sites.
A statement submitted with the application said the hubs would be free to use and would include ultra-fast public and encrypted Wi-Fi, USB charging points, free phone calls and a 999 call button.
The 75-inch screens will also be used to display community and emergency awareness messages and come with environmental sensors to measure air quality, noise and traffic levels.
