Chichester And Arundel Outdoor Art Trail To Raise Funds For Children's Hospice

West Sussex’s first large-scale outdoor art trail - The Big Hoot - comes to Chichester and Arundel next week.

From July 10 to September 1, 30 large owl sculptures will swoop into public green spaces, shopping areas and local landmarks. Each owl has been individually designed and decorated by a different artist and each has a story to tell.

The pool of talent includes graffiti artists, fine artists and illustrators, so each owl has its own distinctive personality.

Thirty smaller owls, designed by schools and groups, will take up residence in shops and public buildings as part of The Little Hoot learner programme.

The trail is presented by Wild in Art and Chestnut Tree House, the children’s hospice for Sussex and South East Hampshire. After the trail, the owls will be auctioned off at a Farewell Auction in September, with all profits helping to provide care to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

Chestnut Tree House’s Chief Operating Officer Becki Jupp said:

“The Big Hoot is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to have fun in Chichester and Arundel this summer, while supporting your local children’s hospice. It costs more than £5m to provide all our care services each year, with only a small percentage of this coming from government. For the rest, we rely on our generous supporters.

“We hope our owls give people joy this summer while spreading the word about children’s hospice care. Chestnut Tree House is here for local families, helping children live life to the full, whatever their condition.”
