Chichester Homeless Charity Shop Expands To New Premises

Charity Stonepillow, that raises money to help homeless people in the city, is moving its Restore shop to bigger and better premises in January.

The new store in Terminus Road is just two doors away from its predecessor but will provide extra space for the pre-loved furniture, which it sells to raise funds - now exceeding half a million.

'Restore' takes donations of furniture and white goods, which are restored, recycled and sold on to those in need of cheap furniture in the community or reused to furnish their clients' supported accommodation.

The new retail unit will be at the site of the old Feather and Black store and will open in the New Year, while the old unit is kept as a donations hub, accepting donations six days a week.

The Restore shop, originally funded by the National Lottery, is based in Chichester with an outlet in Bognor Regis. It's been hugely successful since its opening in 2011 and since April alone has fulfilled 101 crisis furniture grants on behalf of local councils; provided essential furnishings for the most in need in the community and supported 12 unemployed volunteers with the skills they need to move on into new jobs and become independent.

Restore’s current shop on Terminus Road will close its doors to shoppers at 1pm on Christmas Eve and reopen on Monday 9th January 2023 at 10am with the High Sheriff James Whitmore in attendance as well as customers, donors and supporters.

The current shop/warehouse will then be known as the Donations Hub, and will be open to accept donations whilst the new shop gets ready to open.

"Donations to Restore can go so much further than you ever imagined.

"We can’t wait to welcome you into our new home!"
