Children Injured After Van Collides With Tree In Billingshurst - Driver Twice Over Legal Alcohol Limit

There's an appeal for witnesses after a van carrying two children collided with a tree on Stane Street, injuring them both, one potentially seriously.

It happened at around 8.20pm on February 27th. 

The driver of the vehicle was unhurt but both children had injuries that required hospital treatment.

Mark Russell, 32, of Swann Way, Broadbridge Heath, was arrested and charged with driving with 68mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath in his system. The legal limit is 35mcg.

He was released on unconditional bail to appear before Worthing Magistrates’ Court on April 19.
