Children's Hospice Brings Iconic Storybook Character To Brighton Landmark

Chestnut Tree House, a children's hospice based in Sussex, will bring Raymond Briggs' beloved Snowman character to the i360 on December 20 to help raise funds for the charity.

The public will get the chance to meet the iconic character as he takes three i360 'flights' on December 20 at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm.

Tickets for the flights are standard price and the public are being invited to donate to the charity during the experience.

A spokesperson for the landmark said:

Raymond Briggs’s classic 1978 picture book, The Snowman™ is loved by many, but the themes and emotions particularly resonate with Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and the families they care for.

The young boy in the story gets to experience the most amazing adventure, then he loses his new friend. But when you think of The Snowman™, it’s not always the sad ending you remember; it’s the happy times they have together, and this is very much what Chestnut Tree House is about – providing wonderful care, experiences, and precious memories of happy times together.

Chestnut Tree House has had a close relationship with Raymond Briggs and his iconic picture book for many years, with Raymond himself becoming a Patron not long after the children’s hospice first opened in 2003.

As well as allowing the charity to raise funds during flights, the i360 has given away lots of free flights to children being helped by Chestnut Tree House, so that they also get the chance to meet The Snowman.

Tickets to meet The Snowman™ can be purchased at www.brightoni360.co.uk - just select the relevant date and time.

In a fitting tribute to the nostalgic festive family film, acclaimed violinist Esther Abrami, last week released a jaw-dropping new video for her beautifully glistening adaptation of ‘Walking In The Air’ from 'The Snowman™’ that was filmed 450 feet above Brighton on top of the Brighton i360, making her the first ever solo instrumentalist and the very first classical artist to perform on top of the pod.

Taller than the London Eye, the video offers 360-degree views of Brighton, the English Channel, and the rolling South Downs National Park. You can view the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04DIO9VeJOs
