Sussex’s Battle Abbey Reopens After Coronavirus Closure

The popular Sussex tourist attraction reopened on Saturday after being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic – although if you are visiting, you’ll need to expect some changes.

Visitors to Battle Abbey will now need to book timed tickets in advance, and limits on visitor numbers have been introduced to help keep visitors safe and aid in social distancing.

There will be other new steps in place to ensure everyone’s safety, so your visit will be a little different.

A four-hour live music event raises £1,158 for NHS staff, volunteers, and those who have been impacted by the pandemic.

Brighton Palace Pier teamed up with SuperCharged to host a four hour, four-DJ live music charity fundraising event on the Pier on Thursday, June 11.

The money raised is funding grants to help NHS charities support NHS staff, volunteers, and patients in ways above and beyond what NHS funding can ordinarily provide.

An event spokesperson said:

“We are asking you to donate, if you can. Even £1 or £2 helps massively. If you can’t afford to donate you can still help and do your bit by sharing the stream or donation link on the day to help raise awareness. Every little thing really does help and matter!”

Shops across Sussex can reopen from today

Retailers will have to put strict social distancing measures in place, and shoppers can expect things like screens at tills and closed fitting rooms.

Lockdown restrictions are continuing to ease across the UK as the number of coronavirus infections drops.
