Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Monday, 18)

Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the weekend. As of Monday (May, 18) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 407 East Sussex: 663 West Sussex: 1,274 Total: 2,344 Travel Rail and Bus timetables are changing across Sussex today. Southern and Thameslink will start to run trains earlier, and finish later, as well as increasing their frequency. For more information about trains click here.

— B&H Buses (@BrightonHoveBus) May 18, 2020 Mass gathering Online flyers advertised a 'mass gethering' on Brighton beach and on the Bevendean Downs on Saturday. Police said anyone who chose to attend the gathering would have their right to protest over-ruled by the public's right to stay safe. Sussex Police have been contacted for an update. 'Stay away from Sussex' Peter Kyle, Nancy Platts, Rother District and Brighton & Hove City Council united in their message to visitors over the weekend - 'stay away from Sussex'. Concerns included the difficulty of social distancing in beauty spots like the beach, if visitors were to travel from outside the county. De La Warr Pavillion The Bexhill entertainment venue said they will consider measures if the government allows them to reopen in July. Managers are looking at ways to ensure visitors are able to use the outside terrace bar, cafe bar, and galleries, at a safe social distance. The opening of some of these areas could be phased. The exhibitions 'Zadie Xa: Child of Maghalmi' and the 'Echoes of Creation and Marc Bauer: Mal Être/ Performance' will remain in the galleries until at least September.
