Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Saturday, 21 March)

All the latest news on cancelled or postponed events in Sussex as the county battles the coronavirus outbreak. The most up to date official number of known positive cases of Covid-19 in Sussex is 41. Brighton & Hove - 14 East Sussex - 8 West Sussex - 19 News From today (Saturday, 21), cafes, pubs, bars, restaurants and gyms, including in Sussex, are closed for the foreseeable future in the latest move aimed at halting the spread of the virus. The impact of the pandemic has led to local agencies declaring a major incident. The Sussex Local Resilience Forum, a multi-agency group which plans and prepares for big emergencies, has made the announcement. They're urging us to continue following Government advice. Councils  East Sussex County Council has announced all of the county's libraries will be closed from Monday (March, 23). Brighton & Hove City Council has said the outbreak could disrupt waste collections, while garden waste collections have been suspended until further notice. Other  Sussex's lifeboat crews are asking the public to be safe if on the coastline. RNLI chiefs want residents to take particular care near cliff edges, which could be unstable. Meanwhile, University of Brighton students due to graduate this summer will not be able to attend graduation ceremonies as planned. The institution said it has postponed them in line with government advice.
