Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Thursday, 2 April)

All the latest developments in response to the coronavirus outbreak in Sussex over the last 24 hours. As of Thursday (April, 2) at 7am the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 49 East Sussex: 84 West Sussex: 160 Cancelled events Eastbourne International tennis tournament in June was cancelled after The Lawn Tennis Association announced they will not hold grass events this year. Hailsham Town Council cancelled their Summer French Market, and V-E day celebrations were formally moved to 'V-J day' in August. Drawings An organisation in Brighton and Hove which helps older people with things like loneliness, community activities, and other advice, asked for all parents to send them their children's art. Ageing Well will put together activity packs for those who are at home during the coronavirus pandemic, and they will include pictures of things like drawings and poems. Gatwick Gatwick airport officially closed it's North terminal yesterday (April, 1), all flights will now arrive and depart from the South terminal. Small business grants Coast to Capital set up a Backing Business Grants Fund of £2 million to help small businesses and social enterprises in the region. Businesses with a workforce of between five and 50 who have been trading for more than two years, and a turnover of under £10 million, may be eligible for a grant of between £5,000 to £25,000. Virtual visitor Brighton and Hove City Council said many of the city's cultural venues are creating events and activities to take part in online.
