As of Thursday (April, 9) at 7am the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 153 East Sussex: 229 West Sussex: 320 Total for Sussex: 702 'Alarmist' voice note The South East Coast Ambulance Service responded to an 'alarmist' voice message that has been circulating social media and Whatsapp. Officials said the information is not correct, and those who come across the message should disregard it and not share it further. The voice reportedly claims to be from a paramedic describing extremely concerning circumstances around conditions regarding coronavirus.

It's initially for use by NHS staff and invited key workers between 9am and 5pm, on an appointment-only basis. It's not known how long it takes from testing to receive results. Cemetery shuts Woodvale cemetery shut it's gates yesterday following new government guidance for managing crematoria. Brighton and Hove City Council said the guidance states crematoria must close to the public, except for funerals. The requirement extends to a cemetery if the crematorium is situated in the cemetery, which is the case at Woodvale. Childcare Midcounties Co-operative, who operate nurseries across the England, said they are helping NHS and critical workers get affordable childcare. They have made the nursery at St. Richard's hospital in Chichester one of the locations to benefit from a fund to help key workers with nursery ills. They said fees for all children who can't attend have also been paused. Bin collections Residents in Brighton and Hove have been experiencing missed bin collections. The City Council said time spent training new staff to carry out refuse and recycling work is partly to blame. Any missed collections should be reported by email or on the web. Redeployed staff Unite trade union cautioned East Sussex's local authorities to keep staff safe as many council staff are being redeployed to cope with the pandemic. Our Local Democracy Reporter said examples included Lewes and Eastbourne staff now making deliveries to food banks. Dame Vera Lynn Ditchling resident Dame Vera Lynn will release a new recording of "We'll Meet Again" on Saturday. The 103-year-old 'Force's Sweetheart', who shot to fame as in 1937, is part of a newly-made duet with Katherine Jenkins. It follows the Queen's reference to the wartime song in last Sunday's broadcast about the coronavirus pandemic. The release is to benefit NHS charities.
