Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Tuesday, 12)

Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours. As of Tuesday (May, 12) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 400 East Sussex: 648 West Sussex: 1,230 Total: 2,278 Brighton and Hove visitors Brighton and Hove City Council's leader put out a message shortly after the Prime Minister's announcement that the government would be easing lockdown restrictions this week. Nancy Platts expressed concern around how residents will be able to maintain physical distancing if the city experiences an influx of visitors. On that note, she's reassured that shops and attractions will remain closed and asked that people who live outside of the area to refrain from visiting.

The Prince Albert joined the national appeal by the Music Venue Trust to save similar venues elsewhere. Managers of the Trafalgar Street site said they probably won't reopen until at least autumn, if at all.

It turned out they were just camping. Read more here. Coronavirus cycle lane A temporary cyle lane is now in use along the A270 Old Shoreham Road in Brighton. It was introduced to free up space for cyclists in response to the government guidance on physical distancing, and to encourage those going back to work not to use public transport. The lane runs fro the junction with Hangleton Road in West Hove to The Drive, where it joins the existing cycle network.
