Here’s all the coronavirus related news that's gone on in Sussex over Easter weekend. As of Tuesday (April, 14) at 7am the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 213 East Sussex: 351 West Sussex: 398 Total: 962 Coronavirus fines Sussex Police issued more than 100 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) across the county between Friday (April, 10) and Sunday (April, 12), with over half in Brighton. However, officers said a 'significant proportion' were issued to people travelling from outside of the county on day trips. For example, police said a couple from St Albans made the 150-mile round trip to come and walk on Camber beach. A number of arrests were also made over the weekend, including a man accused of licking products in a shop in Lewes Road, Brighton, and putting them back on the shelf.

After being admitted to hospital some weeks ago with a short illness Katie contracted coronavirus, which contributed to her death. Friends and family said they are 'devastated', and although they cannot have a traditional funeral they will organise a celebration of her life, when lockdown restrictions are lifted. 'Virtual' meetings Brighton Pavilion's Green party MP Caroline Lucas called for Parliament to be recalled, and to hold debates using 'virtual' meeting technology. Caroline said MPs need to be able to do their jobs properly as the pandemic continues. Stagecoach Bus operator Stagecoach said all NHS staff in Sussex are able to travel for free across the South East. Tim Loughton East Worthing and Shorham's Conservative representative Tim Loughton took to Facebook to reject claims that members had a £10,000 pay increase to work from home during the pandemic. Loughton said the claims were verified as untrue; an independent body made the figure available as expenses for office costs only. Emojis A researcher at the University of Chichester said people working from home should include emojis in their messages. Dr. Moitree Banerjee said they can compensate for not seeing or hearing the person who's writing, and could make people feel happier in their jobs.
