Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours As of Tuesday (April, 28) at 8am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 345 East Sussex: 521 West Sussex: 1,057 Total: 1,922 Rough sleepers in Crawley Ten rough sleepers are back on the streets of Crawley following bad behaviour in the government-mandated accommodation provided at the beginning of lockdown. Our local democracy reporter says some of the occupants were reportedly spitting at people and taking drugs. Friends of Eastbourne DGH A 96-year-old man walking 96 miles is among people raising money for Friends of Eastbourne DGH, who support the work at the towns hospital. The charity have thanked the public who've donated iPads, and other funds that have paid for visors, camp beds and other supplies. So far they have raised more than £11,400. Firefighters' chiefs dismiss union Fire Authority Chairman Roy Galley and Chief Fire Officer Dawn Whittaker  disputed claims from the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) that recent proposals for East Sussex would be a major threat to public safety. Particularly as it is being looked at during the coronavirus lockdown which leaves many people's livelihoods in a place of uncertainty. A public consultation was launched which looks at altering or removing some firefighters' jobs, and prioritising call-outs to reduce risk to human life. ESFRS bosses said the changes would see an added focus on preventing emergencies. 'Do not resuscitate' East Sussex County Council said they are taking 'instant action' after a blanket decision for 'do not resuscitate' orders was made for at least 15 vulnerable care home residents following the coronavirus lockdown. Voyage Care reportedly raised the concerns on April 9. Our local democracy reporter said GPs should only place a DNAR order on someone whey they have had appropriate discussions with family, carers, and the person (if possible). East Sussex County Council said they always look fully into safeguarding alerts and they are taking the 'appropriate steps'.
