Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Wednesday, 10)

Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours.

As of Wednesday (June, 10) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district:

Brighton and Hove: 471

East Sussex: 735

West Sussex: 1,341

Total: 2,547

Councils throughout Sussex plead with the government to extend existing planning agreements to avoid over-development after the pause in building caused by the pandemic.

The authorities said that development on many sites had come to a standstill, leading to anxiety among councillors that existing plans covering larger areas could be considered “out of date” and therefore no longer applicable.

Gatwick is expanding its flights enormously next Monday, with the North Terminal re-opening, flight hours extending, and new hygiene measures everywhere.

Gatwick Airport staff are preparing to reopen the North Terminal to accommodate rising numbers of flights, starting on June 15.

But the organisation must also bring in many protective measures against Covid-19 to help keep passengers and workers safe.

Chichester's first post-lockdown farmers' market "a success".

The market came back on Friday, after being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in mid- March.
