Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Wednesday, 25 March)

Getting over the hump of the week whether you're working from home, working in critical services or just spending time indoors, here are a few things that have changed locally, in the last 24 hours. As of Wednesday (March, 25) at 5am the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 25 East Sussex: 21 West Sussex: 52 Third death Yesterday, the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust said an 82 year old person, with underlying health conditions, died on Monday (March, 23) after testing positive for Covid-19. This means there have been three Sussex coronavirus-related deaths in under a week. Brighton and Hove planning decisions The City Council have decided that urgent decisions will be made by three party leaders, from each of the Green, Labour and Conservative groups. Until new laws come into place it is illegal to vote remotely or by proxy. The Salvation Army The Salvation Army in Horsham is calling on local people and local businesses, to help depleting stocks of food needed to go to vulnerable people in the community. Lewes Q&A The deputy leader of Lewes District Council, James MacCleary, held a 30-minute online Q&A on Facebook Live yesterday (Tuesday, 24) morning. He responded to residents' questions with regard to the coronavirus pandemic and how it will impact housing benefits, waste collections and support for businesses. West Sussex emergency services & parking The County Council said they are working with borough and district councils to try to help residents wherever possible during the coronavirus outbreak, including parking restrictions. A dispensation notice has been made available for £10 per vehicle to help people who are self-isolating. It will be valid for 12 weeks and will work in any on-street bay. Worthing Pier closed Following further restrictions announced on Monday (March, 23) Worthing Borough Council made the decision to close Worthing Pier until further notice. Waste All household waste recycling sites in East Sussex are now closed, until further notice.
