Coronavirus: The latest developments in Sussex (Wednesday, 6)

Here’s all the coronavirus related news that’s gone on in Sussex over the last 24 hours. As of Wednesday (May, 6) at 6am, the following figures are the known number of Covid-19 cases in each district: Brighton and Hove: 386 East Sussex: 613 West Sussex: 1,185 Total: 2,184 800 litres of sanitiser donated A pharmaceutical firm in Worthing donated 800 litres of sanitiser to the Sussex Resilience Forum, who co-ordinate the county's response to the Covid-19 pandemic. GSK traded their stock of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) with Diversey, international hygiene experts, for forty 20-litre bottles of the cleanser. Read more here. St John Ambulance volunteers Dozens of St John Ambulance volunteers were deployed in the county's hospitals. The charity said it's part of a national effort, where more than 2,500 first-aiders received additional training to support frontline workers. Support is being given to clinical teams at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and the Princess Royal in Haywards Heath.

— SJA Sussex District (London & South Region) (@SJA_Sussex) May 3, 2020 12-year-old runs 26k Bella, a young runner from Hove, ran 26 kilometres to fundraise for Rockinghorse children's charity. The 12-year-old, whose been running since the age of eight, raised more than £1,750. During lockdown the Brighton Girls pupil wanted to run 5k a day, but soon found she was increasing her distance. When she heard of the 2.6 challenge, and how UK charities were missing out on £67million due to the cancellation of the London Marathon, she decided to set herself a new challenge to complete her first fundraiser event. Bella also promised that she'll complete the Brighton Marathon with her dad when she's 18.

Karshare said they want to establish a fleet of 10-thousand cars to help move essential services around. Cars and drivers are fully insured, with vehicles returned to their owners after a week.
