A man from Crawley has been jailed for 18 months for drugs offences after police discovered a variety of substances and nearly £9,000 hidden in a property in the town. Liam McGovern, 23, of Chaldon Road, was sentenced for four charges following the search at an address in the road in September last year. Police said on entry of the premises McGovern was spotted in the back garden and upon seeing officers, escaped. Officers said a search of the property was carried out and a herbal cannabis, cannabis resin, cannabis oil, cocaine and THC were found, along with almost £8,500 in cash. A warrant for McGovern's arrest was issued and he was arrested four days later, according to police. A woman, Leah Lidbetter, 22, also of Chaldon Road, was also present at the property and was arrested and charged with being concerned in the supply of a class B drug. She was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years.
